The Marcellus and Utica shales are a “world-class resource that can benefit the region for decades,” Chevron Appalachia President Stacey Olson told Shale Insight conference attendees this morning in Pittsburgh.

Shale natural gas, Olson noted, “has the potential to fundamentally change the economic growth of Pennsylvania.”

Olson told shale executives, vendors and employees gathered at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center that key pipelines are needed now to best harvest downstream economic development. “The time for this region to act is now, or we will lose the opportunity to benefit from this natural resource,” Olson said.
