Life in western Pennsylvania was much different a decade ago.
“There was nowhere to work,” state Rep. Jason Ortitay said. “But now that’s not the case.”
Shale energy has been a great thing for the area, Ortitay told The Stream, because companies care about the communities and the environment.
“Before I ran for office, I had no idea how some of these well sites operated,” he said, adding he’s done three or four tours since then. “I would encourage anyone to take a tour. … Don’t believe the mass propaganda and hype. … It’s really not like what people portray it as.”
